Amigos de Sian Ka'an
The resort is a proud member of Amigos de Sian Ka'an. The mission of Sian Ka'an is to conserve biodiversity, promote the socioeconomic development of communities, and influence the environmental culture and policies, based on science. Working towards a greener and healthier planet we have partnered with the organization by implementing actions focused on the following environmental well-being programs.
MARTI
Since 2009, Now Jade has been an active member of the MARTI (Mesoamerican Reef Tourism Initiative), helping to sustain community development and protect the Mesoamerican Reef.
Their dedication to decreasing their ecological footprint includes minimizing the harmful effects they have on the local environment and conserving the local energy. Many of these green philosophies include:
- Energy-saver, motion-sensor light switches
- Water efficient bathroom systems
- Biodegradable bathroom amenities (shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, body wash, etc)
- Grease from kitchen safely discarded through a third-party
- 100% eco-friendly cleaning products
- Discarded paper used for arts and crafts at the Explorer’s Club
- Waste recycling program
- Protected mangroves surround resort
- Turtle release program
Rainforest Alliance Verified™
Now Jade Riviera Cancun has achieved significant and measurable sustainability milestones and has been awarded with the Rainforest Alliance Verified™ mark. The requirements for verification are aligned with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria. This verification assures the commitment of Now Jade to reduce the impact of its activities on the planet and local communities.
Stewardship
To further reaffirm their commitment to the local community, handmade, local products are sold in the shops and stores. Additionally, soft and hard goods are donated to local charities.
